A CATalyst for change, Samantha’s mission is to “make the world a better place for humans and animals alike,” as shared by Scott, her husband. Samantha is co-founder and Executive Director of The Cattery, a non-profit, cage-free, no-kill cat shelter in the coastal bend community of Corpus Christi, Texas. Over the past 12 years, she’s assisted over 6000 families adopt a new feline friend. She’s also served two terms on the city’s Animal Care Board, leading efforts to increase the shelter’s live release rates. Plus, she’s expanded the Cattery’s operations to include a high-quality, low-cost Spay/Neuter facility, which has performed over 30,000 surgeries over the last six years and has opened a mobile clinic to reach those with limited vet service access. ⠀

While all these feats are extraordinary, Samantha doesn’t stop there! She also founded and directs a thrift store (Retail Therapy) and a local antique store (Vintage Vibe) as businesses within The Cattery organization with sales supporting the shelter and the Spay/Neuter Clinic. Plus, she’s a firm believer in women empowering women. Over 90% of the staff at The Cattery are women and Samantha has provided the resources, mentorship, and dedication to the advancement of her staff through educational opportunities, leadership, and skills training so they are armed with tools for advanced careers upon leaving the clinic.
