LASONYA

OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLAHOMA

LIFE IS BEST LIVED AT THE INTERSECTION OF IMPACT (ON OTHERS) AND FULFILLMENT (WITHIN YOURSELF)
LaSonya is the mother of six and the Director of Training and Credentialing at a mental health agency in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and was nominated by her coworker, Stephanie. Stephanie says, “It’s been a very hard couple of years for everyone, and our mental health workers are no exception. LaSonya has seen her share of loss, both family and friends, like all of us, but in true leader fashion, what does she do? Writes a book about parenting! She wants to share her experience with families around the world. Help them see that parenting is the ‘best job they will ever have’ (or so she says, sounds tiring to me),” Stephanie says.

LaSonya seeks to touch someone’s life daily in a positive way, inspiring them to feel stronger, have more joy, or feel more peace. Stephanie says, “She is positive, encouraging, direct, honest. She has that uncanny ability to get you excited about YOUR JOB?!?! That’s quite a feat in our current climate. She is a woman of faith (another place we totally differ). I point out our differences because in today’s hostile climate, our differences just make her even more amazing to me. We are opposite in almost every aspect, but I see her light. Others do too. I nominate her for a beautiful bag because she is a beautiful, strong female leader. She is paving the way for her own family and generations of families to come, both through her book and through her work.”

One of LaSonya’s dearest quotes is from a Diana Ross song,

“Reach out and touch

Somebody's hand

Make this world a better place

If you can”

She also shares a favorite quote she heard recently from her son, “Life is best lived at the intersection of impact (on others) and fulfillment (within yourself).”
