KRYSTIN F
SHE HAS NEVER TURNED ANYONE DOWN WHEN THEY ARE IN NEED. KRYSTIN EMPOWERS OTHERS TO STRIVE FOR GREATNESS.
Krystin is a 3rd-grade Inclusion teacher in Lockhart, Texas, and was nominated by her colleague, Michelle. Michelle says, “Krystin's classroom is warm and inviting; it is home. She has students select a ‘password’ they must recite before entering the classroom. Students can be heard through the halls stating positive, self-affirming quotes such as ‘I am beautiful’ and ‘I accept challenges.’ Krystin can be heard responding with quotes such as ‘You are absolutely beautiful’ and ‘We will have many academic challenges for you today. I know you can solve them.’ This welcoming procedure sets the tone for students in her class each day along with building a social and emotional connection with them. She believes all students will be successful.”
Krystin’s classroom door is open to anyone and she’s known to provide a listening ear or share sage advice. Michelle says, “Krystin's classroom is a safe space for students and staff. With ease, she eloquently communicates with parents, students, and staff. She states facts in a straightforward but loving manner, no matter what the circumstances are, to earn the respect of parents and peers. Many staff members seek out Krystin's advice and eloquence with words to help guide their communication with others. Krystin has created a positive culture of inclusivity by graciously welcoming Special Education students, their aides, SPED teachers, Texas State Resident Student Teachers, teammates, peers, etc. into her classroom each day. She has never turned anyone down when they are in need. Krystin empowers others to strive for greatness.”
Krystin shares her inspiration, "Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven." Matthew 5:16
