Give it up for Viva Babe Jennifer; She’s a champion for the deaf and hard of hearing community!

Jennifer lives in Plano, Texas, and was nominated by her daughter, Dakota. Dakota says, “I am a 22-year-old deaf college student. I have cochlear implants that help me hear. My mom has been the manager for the Dallas Hearing Foundation for 10 years and she works with the deaf and hard of hearing. She created a teen group while I was a teen for deaf teenagers in the DFW area. It has grown over the last several years and so many teens have benefited from this group.”

“She has always been an advocate for me and the deaf community,” Dakota says. “We have gotten to visit NASA employees in Houston that are deaf to serve as mentors. We also met a police officer with cochlear implants. She works with local police departments to train them on how to interact with the deaf and hard of hearing community. We are taught about advocating for ourselves, relationships, mentoring and giving back to the community. She has taught me that I can do anything if I put my mind to it. She helps so many in the DFW area and is always looking for ways to continue to help. She is always thinking of ways to serve the community.”

Jennifer shares a quote by Helen Keller that inspires her, “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.”
