JAMI M
BE THAT GIRL WHO ROOTS FOR THE OTHER GIRL, TELLS A STRANGER HER HAIR LOOKS AMAZING, AND ENCOURAGES OTHER WOMEN TO BELIEVE IN THEMSELVES AND THEIR DREAMS.
Jami lives in Des Moines and was nominated by her friend, Heather. Heather says, “Jami is an amazing mother, friend, daughter, aunt, and MeeMaw. She was an amazing wife, too. I witnessed first-hand the ease in which she and her husband Troy shared time together. Sadly, on May 9, 2020, Troy was struck and killed while out riding his motorcycle (by a 15-year-old unlicensed kid). Jami found out about the accident on the news. She rushed to the accident scene, but before she made it hospital personnel called her on her cell phone to let her know that Troy did not survive the accident.”
“While Jami struggled and still does, she recently started her own motivational speaking business. She is all about empowering women and lifting them up so that they can see themselves far above the clouds. Not even a year since Troy died, Jami has used her voice, experience, and love for Troy to speak out about motorcycle safety. She is working to change the laws in Iowa that did not allow the young man that killed Troy to be charged with anything but ‘driving without a license’ and ‘failure to yield,’” Heather says.
“Jami has held her head up with grace and strength although I know in her quiet hours she suffers from loneliness and despair. While most of us thought the worst was behind her...we were wrong. Jami's house caught fire in April ‘21, which ended in the loss of everything she owned, and also her beloved fur babies. So, within one year Jami lost her husband, her home, all her belongings, the keepsakes she had that reminded her of Troy, and her fur babies. I cannot think of a single person that is more of a hero and survivor than Jami.”
We can’t either. Thank you, Jami, for shining through the darkness and being an incredibly positive force, making a difference in the lives of others.
Jami shares her mantra, “Be that girl who roots for the other girl, tells a stranger her hair looks amazing, and encourages other women to believe in themselves and their dreams.”
