Elvia L.
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me
Congratulations to Nurse Elvia, the head nurse for Harlingen CISD, who has been honored as our latest Viva Babe during their Nurse Appreciation celebration! Surprised by the award, she felt incredibly appreciated and valued. Her dedicated team nominated her for this special recognition, and it's easy to see why.
Nurse Elvia, your unique blend of positivity, dedication, and service has significantly impacted the Harlingen community. Your support of 39 nurses across 18 elementary, 5 middle, and 4 high schools is a testament to your unwavering passion for nursing. Your transition from a 12-year career as a labor & delivery nurse to school nursing, driven by your desire to be closer to your children, is a remarkable journey that inspires us all. Your love for serving others and your pride in the Harlingen district are evident in your daily actions.
"She is the kindest, most caring person I know. She is there for all nurses when facing challenges on our campuses. She gets pulled in different directions, whether to meetings, addressing parent concerns, backing up nurses when short-staffed, or simply visiting us to ensure we are doing okay. She's an exceptional role model and always guides us in the right direction when challenges arise. We are all so thankful to have such a giving, compassionate, and loving head nurse as our leader," said Crystal, a Sam Houston Elementary nurse and nominator.
Nurse Elvia recharges through her faith, living by the mantra, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" (Philippians 4:13). She starts each day with a positive attitude. She often encourages others, believing our attitude can uplift those around us. She enjoys engaging in small activities to help her team foster empathy and continue shining their light. Regardless of the situation, she stays grounded in her faith, knowing there is a solution to every challenge.
The same afternoon she received the Viva Babe award, her team was pleasantly surprised with a Rapid Response grant of $5,000 for cardiac arrest emergency equipment, a recognition of their hard work and dedication, which they will implement at two schools.
Once again, congratulations, Nurse Elvia! We are excited to hear about your future successes. As summer approaches, we hope you have the opportunity to create some ridiculously awesome memories with your grandkids, cherishing every moment of joy.
