DR. BIANKA S
FIGHT FOR THE THINGS YOU CARE ABOUT BUT DO IT IN A WAY THAT WILL LEAD OTHERS TO JOIN YOU
She shows up for others, providing crucial information, educating, and sharing her expertise to better the lives of folks in her community.
Dr. Bianka is a pediatrician in Fort Worth, Texas, and was nominated by her mom, Agatha. Agatha says, "Bianka always wanted to become a doctor, and she is a first-generation college graduate. She remained humble and steadfast in her goals which ultimately have become a reality."
"Being the daughter of immigrant parents from Mexico, Bianka has never forgotten her roots and language," Agatha says. As the pandemic took hold and as Bianka learned "that her community was among some of those disproportionately affected by the virus, she knew something had to be done." With rapidly changing information, the most current evidence-based information needed to be shared in a language that her community could understand. Agatha says, "She partnered with a local DFW organization and became a featured medical expert for broadcasted Zoom calls that allowed the most up-to-date medical information about COVID-19 to be shared in both English and Spanish. She did this in her spare time while still working full time in her pediatric practice and being a mom to two young boys. She also volunteered at several COVID 19 vaccination clinics, serving as a medical expert providing information and answering questions in English and Spanish about the COVID-19 vaccine. Her efforts earned her a spot on Fort Worth's TOP Doc list (which she has been listed in before) but this time landed her on the cover of their April 2021 Issue."
Agatha says, "Bianka's actions speak volumes about her character, integrity, and perseverance in a world full of adversity for minority women. She shares her experience and serves as a mentor to young minority women in an effort to inspire them to pursue higher education."
Dr. Bianka shares a quote that inspires her, "Fight for the things you care about but do it in a way that will lead others to join you" - Ruth Bader Ginsburg
