Carissa lives in Saint Peters, Missouri, and is the Executive Director of Community Strong St. Charles County. Her nominator, Karen, says, "Community Strong focuses on inspiring the underserved in our county to make choices that better their lifestyle and well-being.”
Before leading Community Strong, Carissa founded and directed a maternity home for teen mothers experiencing homelessness. She created a place of safety for these young moms and babies. Karen says, “Carissa started this home for single teen moms seven years ago and it is still affecting the lives of mamas and babies for the better every day. She was the Founder and Executive Director there for years and, when it was running well, she passed it on to other professionals to take it to the next level.”
Carissa’s leadership, dedication, and compassion have lifted the lives of countless people in her community. “The impact Carissa has made on the lives of underserved women in our county cannot be understated. She is an inspiration to so many and deserves all of the accolades, even though her humility and quiet nature lead her to shy away from them,” Karen says.
