Belinda is a Junior High Principal in Henderson, Tennessee, and was nominated by Christy, one of her staff members. Christy says, "A school is only as strong as its leadership. Until 2018, our school was struggling. That means 600-700 students each year did not have access to what they deserved. In 2018, Belinda became principal. Our school was one of the lowest-performing schools in Tennessee and was designated an Additional Target Support and Improvement (ATSI) school. Some principals might crumble under such pressure, but not her. Instead, she led the school by prioritizing areas of focus and devising a concrete plan that improved both culture and instruction. More importantly, her plan would give students access to a great education."

"In only one year, Belinda was able to lead our school to lose the ATSI designation," Christy says. "This is unheard of, and no other school has accomplished such a feat! More recently, that success has continued as our school has made a milestone improvement from a level one to a level five school, the highest level of growth and the top rating in Tennessee. One of Belinda's greatest strengths is identifying and developing talent within her people. I can attest that I have grown exponentially during the four years I've worked under her. I know that every administrator, teacher, and staff member at our school would have the same sentiments, as we are all the better because of her leadership." 

Belinda says, "#CCJHSEaglePride is our school's mantra. It means that our school is striving every day to be leaders and not followers in all that we do and say."
