DURING A DARK TIME, AMY IS A BEACON OF INSPIRATION AND OPTIMISM.
Amy is the owner of the Nothing Bundt Cakes franchise in Boulder, CO., and was nominated by her friend Lari. Amy and her family immigrated to the US from Hong Kong in 1986. Her parents are long-time entrepreneurs, owning a local restaurant for many years, where Amy learned the ingredients of a successful business. Amy and her sister purchased the struggling Bundt cake franchise in 2018 and immersed themselves, “working intense, long days to make the franchise their own. Customers soon noticed the new energy in the store and spread the word, and they began to see progress.” Lari says.
Then came COVID. Their business felt financial strains. Amy pivoted her business strategy, reaching out to give away as many Bundt cakes as possible to non-profits, schools, hospitals, and first responders. “Rather than curtail her community involvement, Amy shifted her focus to meet the needs of those who tirelessly work to keep us safe and secure,” Lari says. She has given away thousands of Bundt cakes to Boulder community members.
