Congratulations to our newest Consuela Viva Babe, Judge Rosie Speedlin Gonzalez! We are beyond thrilled to honor Judge Rosie with the Consuela Viva Babe Award for her incredible leadership, compassion, and unwavering dedication to creating positive change. She was joyfully surprised at her office by her friend and nominator, Carolina, alongside her wife, Stacy. 

 

As a passionate advocate for the underserved, Judge Rosie goes above and beyond to uplift those who need it most—whether through offering a helping hand, a warm smile, or a generous donation. Her commitment to service runs deep, and she shares this purpose with her wife, Stacy. Together, they wake up each day with a mission to make the world a kinder place, one act of kindness at a time.                                                                                                                                                       

Judge Rosie’s journey of service began in childhood, inspired by her hardworking mother. She balanced full-time work and night school while encouraging Rosie and her brother to get involved in their community. Today, that spirit continues to shine through her work in Bexar County Court at Law No. 13, where she leads with empathy and a powerful drive to uplift others.                                                                                                                                                                                                     

As Carolina highlighted in her nomination regarding positively impacting our community, Judge Rosie and her wife co-authored House Bill 3529, creating Reflejo Court, a Domestic Violence Specialty Court for first-time offenders struggling with substance abuse. The court’s mission is to reduce aggressive behaviors, promote sobriety, and encourage accountability through holistic treatment and compassionate judicial supervision.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    

In her personal life, Judge Rosie recharges through quiet moments with her wife, whether enjoying Netflix and Chinese takeout or exploring new travel destinations. These moments of joy refuel her for the work she loves so much.                                                                                                                                                                      

Her favorite quote reflects the strength and faith that guide her every day: “With God and strong desire, anything and everything is possible.”
