Mercedes S.
This is only temporary
Congratulations to our newest Viva Babe, Mercedes! Her celebration was a heartwarming and unexpected surprise at home. While preparing dinner, her husband presented a large box, the Viva Babe Award, and shared highlights from the nomination her mother, Maria, had submitted. Mercedes was utterly shocked and deeply touched.
Her mother proudly shared in her nomination that Mercedes, an engineer who designs power lines, is also a ridiculously awesome mom. In fall 2023, Mercedes received unexpected news—she was pregnant with quadruplets! No IVF was involved, and there were no known multiples in the family, making this an incredibly rare and high-risk pregnancy. In May, at 29 weeks, Mercedes gave birth to four identical baby girls—one of only 72 documented spontaneous identical quadruplet cases in medical history.
Despite the challenges, Mercedes has shown extraordinary strength. She visits her daughters in the NICU daily, holding each one in turn, then returns home to care for her two sons and share household duties with her husband. Mercedes's favorite quote, "This is only temporary," keeps her grounded, helping her find joy and reassurance in her faith even in challenging times.
Mercedes is also passionate about mentoring younger talent at work and finding fulfillment in their growth. Nothing brings her more joy than watching her sons, ages four and twenty months, play together. Now, she’s blessed with four newborn daughters, and seeing all her children together fills her heart with overwhelming happiness.
We are thrilled to honor Mercedes as our newest Viva Babe. Her dedication to family, work, and faith is truly inspiring. As of August, all her daughters are now home. Thank you, Mercedes, for being a shining example of strength, love, and perseverance. We're so proud to have you in our Viva Babe community!
