KAIRIS C

FOR 22 YEARS, SHE HAS GIVEN HERSELF UNSELFISHLY TO ANY WOMAN THAT STEPS INTO HER HOME. I CAN'T TELL YOU HOW MANY WOMEN HAVE BEEN LIFTED THROUGH THIS RETREAT.
Kairis lives in Elk Grove, California. In addition to being a wife, a mother, a hair artist, caterer, doula, leader in ministry, mentor, advocate for women, Kairis has also hosted the My Sisters Only (MSO) Retreat for the past 22 years. Her nominator Kenya shares, “To be clear, Kairis created this retreat which is a 3-day weekend that she hosts at her home free of charge, not just for her friends, but we are all free to invite any women that we feel could benefit from a time away from kiddos and husbands. This safe space provides networking, heartfelt conversations, encouragement, a new activity, new friendships, clothes swap (anything left, she takes to a women's shelter), spa night, a place to stay, and lots and lots of food that Kairis prepares herself. For 22 years, she has given herself unselfishly to any woman that steps into her home. I can't tell you how many women have been lifted through this retreat.”

Kairis was determined to keep the tradition alive even amid the pandemic. She shipped spa kits to participants out of state and prepared an outdoor picnic fit for a queen at a local park with individually wrapped lunches, even including a picnic blanket. “She thinks of everything. We social distanced in our own spaces, dressed like queens with a photographer capturing the special moments,” Kenya says.

Kairis, we hope you know the world is better because you are in it. Thank you for your unending support of women.

Kairis shares what she’d like every woman to know, “Our value is inherent. It doesn’t have to be earned by doing everything for everyone else. It doesn’t come from anyone else’s approval. Destroying our bodies doesn’t save our souls. We don’t have to deny ourselves the good things or feel guilty when we have them. Our value just is. This means we can take our time deciding which things match that value and do those things from a place of joy and not obligation.”
