DON'T ASK WHAT THE WORLD NEEDS. ASK WHAT MAKES YOU COME ALIVE, AND GO DO IT. BECAUSE WHAT THE WORLD NEEDS IS PEOPLE WHO HAVE COME ALIVE. - HOWARD THURMAN
Jenna is the founder of Independent Identity in Austin, Texas, and was nominated by her mom, Lynne. Lynne says, "Jenna's gift for working with special needs students began in high school when she was a peer mentor to a fellow student with autism and an enlarged heart." Sadly, her friend passed away, and after the devastating loss, Jenna made the decision to study special education, earn her Master's in Autism, and is fueled to start Independent Identity, a place where he would have flourished.

Lynne says, "Most recently, she has worked diligently to start 'Independent Identity,' a nonprofit school for young adults with special needs. It is projected to open late spring or summer and will promote vocational, social, leisure, and independent living skills for its clients. She is now the Executive Director and Founder of Independent Identity. She serves as Vice President of the Austin Area TxABA (Applied Behavior Analysts). Jenna is my daughter, and because of her endless hard work, caring, and love to better the lives of others, I am so proud to nominate her for Consuela's "It's Not About the Bag."

Jenna shares a quote that guides her, "Don't ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive."
