BRIDGET B
SHE IS LEGALLY BLIND, A FANTASTIC MOTHER, AND AN AMAZING ARTIST. SHE’S HUMBLE AND KIND AND MOST OF ALL SHE’S BRAVE.
Bridget is a mom of three and an artist in Westerly, Rhode Island; she was nominated by her mother-in-law, Annie. Annie says, “Bridget is amazingly awesome and brave. She is legally blind, a fantastic mother, and an amazing artist. She’s humble and kind and most of all she’s brave. During the pandemic, while my son was still working on Long Island, she moved herself and her children to a big farmhouse in Rhode Island where she home-schooled and published a children’s book.”
From her website, Bridget says, “I’ve always known that I wanted to pursue a career in illustration. After high school, I studied fine arts in college but after about a year, I became legally blind from a childhood form of macular degeneration. This made the traditional media, such as watercolor and pen and ink that I had always loved, difficult and frustrating to work with. In the last few years, I have met my iPad pro (my fourth baby as I like to call it). I discovered digital art, and it has allowed me to return to my happy place of drawing again.”
Annie says, “She never complains, she never lets her disability stop her, and she’s the best mother I could have picked for my grandchildren.”
