MADE IN MEXICO WITH LOVE

Rosa Gomez, San Juan Chamula, Chiapas

Rosa is an artist and an entrepreneur, working with her community to produce woven pieces while preserving the art form and creating job opportunities. She trains local artists and facilitates the distribution of their work, including hers, by traveling from her town in Chiapas to other cities in Mexico.

ARTIST TECHNIQUES
Weaving is done by hand, following memorized patterns and sometimes specific color combinations. The starting end of a woven piece is held firmly as multiple loose pieces are guided one by one to create one solid piece full of colors.
DESIGN PHILOSOPHY
For Rosa, a particular joy of weaving is introducing new colors; evolving patterns into new designs. The final product is a reflection of many different pieces coming together as one.

HONORING ARTISTS

As part of our commitment to honoring artists, we've partnered with the community of San Gabriel Chilac for an upcoming collection featuring their hand embroidery. This partnership positively impacts their community through job creation and allows the preservation of traditional techniques handed down through generations.

Meet the artisans working with Consuela across different techniques, including chaquira beadwork, weaving, and paper mâché.
