TRACEY

SNOW HILL, NORTH CAROLINA

TRACEY IS ALWAYS THE FIRST PERSON WHO ARRIVES TO VOLUNTEER DURING A NATURAL OR PERSONAL DISASTER IN OUR SMALL COMMUNITY, AND THE FIRST TO SIT WITH THE ILL. SHE LOVES HER GOD, HER FAMILY, HER COMMUNITY, AND HELPING ANYONE WHO NEEDS A HAND, EVEN WHEN SHE IS SICK OR HURTING.
Tracey lives in Snow Hill, North Carolina, and was nominated by Dianne. Dianne shares, "This woman is the most loving, caring, and compassionate person I've ever met. You see, Tracey was almost killed years ago in an auto accident. She had to be airlifted to the hospital. She was scalped between her eyebrows back. Her jaws were shredded (she now has titanium jaws), her teeth hanging by threads of gums, and both hands and feet were broken. They thought she would not make it because of the head trauma. Obviously, God wasn't finished with this young lady."

Her accident was in April, and her wedding was on June 30 that same year. Dianne says, "She pulled through only by her will to live, prayers, and her love for the Lord. They told her that because of the trauma to her body, she would likely not be able to have children. Two years later, she gave birth. Two years later, her husband was diagnosed with Buerger's disease and lost his right leg from below his knee. Again, she stood strong in her faith. Two years later, they wanted another child, the doctor went in to do exploratory surgery and accidentally discovered ovarian cancer."

Despite life's challenges, Tracey continues to show up for others in the BIGGEST ways. Dianne says, "Tracey is ALWAYS the first person who arrives to volunteer during a natural or personal disaster in our small community, and the first to sit with the ill. She loves her God, her family, her community, and helping anyone who needs a hand, even when she is sick or hurting. The accident left her with horrible arthritis; Some days she could not close her hands to brush her hair and her teeth. But if you needed her, she would limp and not give up. If there is ever a local hero for your program, she surely deserves it."

Without a doubt! Tracey, we commend you for your resilience and hope in the face of adversity and your incredible dedication to lift and love others. You make the world a better and brighter place!
