Peggy R.A.
Congratulations to our newest Viva Babe, Peggy!
Her surprise moment happened right outside a Broadway play in New York City when her nominator and dear friend, Janina, presented her with the Viva Babe Award and gifts.
Peggy is a poet, author, and creative force whose work celebrates women, culture, and working-class wisdom. Through Robleswrites Productions, the nonprofit she founded, Peggy amplifies the voices of women of color through writing workshops, performances, and publications that empower others to share their truth.
“My poetry is personal,” Peggy shared. “It’s about working-class wisdom—because our stories, our labor, and our love matter.”
As a proud Puerto Rican and Dominican creative, Peggy draws strength from her family and community. “My parents worked hard and still found joy in everyday life,” she said. “I learned early on to seek joy, even when days aren’t so great.”
Her mantra, printed on everything from pens to tote bags, says it all: “Magic making is not for pendejas.” It’s a powerful reminder that creating beauty and change takes courage, persistence, and heart.
Janina describes Peggy best: “She is always there for her community and family, showing up with love, creativity, and strength. She proves that art isn’t just a dream—it’s a force for connection, healing, and change.”
Congratulations, Peggy! Thank you for using your magic to lift others higher and for inspiring all of us to dream big, dance freely, and create boldly.
