Congratulations to our newest Viva Babe, Monica! During a recent Fun Food Friday at work, Monica was delighted and surprised to receive the Viva Babe Award. She felt deeply appreciated, especially knowing that two of her board members, Jessica and Oliver, nominated her for this honor.

Monica's journey began in nursing school, where she embraced a nursing theory focused on providing the medical care patients need while empowering them to acquire the skills and resources necessary to manage their future healthcare needs independently. As the co-founder and executive director of Lirios Pediatrics, Monica's vision became a reality. This unique clinic offers high-quality, 100% free healthcare to children without insurance in Texas. In its first year, Lirios saw over 1,000 unique children, providing essential services such as checkups, immunizations, mental health support, and information on other resources to help families thrive in our community. Monica's passion for caregiving drives her work, bringing joy to her and the community she serves. Now in its second year, Lirios Pediatrics has completed over 2,879 visits and administered more than 5,582 vaccines at no charge to families.

Jessica and Oliver, who nominated Monica for the award, shared that what most impresses them about Monica is her exceptional dedication and resolve, which really spreads through everyone around her. Her life mantra, "Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined,” keeps her grounded and motivated. Monica cherishes quality time with her family, including her 19-month-old twin grandsons, husband, parents, daughter, and siblings.
