KELLY D

IN ONE TO TWO YEARS, SHE TAKES KIDS WHO HAD NO HOPE OF GRADUATING AND MAKES IT POSSIBLE...
As a principal of a small alternative high school in Elkhorn, Wisconsin, Kelly works tirelessly to give her students the tools to succeed. She strives to offer a curriculum that will build the skill sets needed for a successful transition to post-secondary endeavors. Her husband Jason nominated her, sharing, “In one to two years, she takes kids who had no hope of graduating and makes it possible. She also gets them connected to technical college —almost all graduate with college credit. She also runs a small teen parent program helping new moms struggling with parenthood and fitting in school.”

Committed to providing innovative opportunities, last year, Kelly added a construction class to the curriculum, where the students gain a trade-skill and build homes for low-income families in the community – A win-win! She continually goes above and beyond for her school; Due to COVID restrictions, she was unable to see her students, so she finished the year delivering pizza-grams to check in and make sure they were doing all right.

Strike up the band and meet us in the gym for the Consuela Pep Rally; GOOOOO, Kelly!
