KATE K
SHE IS A ROCK THAT HER FRIENDS AND FAMILY KNOW THEY CAN DEPEND ON HER. WITH ALL HER STRENGTH, TENACITY, GRIT, AND FIERCE LOVE, SHE STILL EMBODIES SERVANT LEADERSHIP, GRACE, FEMININITY, GRATITUDE, AND GIVES THE BEST HUGS KNOWN TO HUMANKIND.
Kate is a 4th-grade teacher at a private school in New Braunfels, Texas, and was nominated by her children and sister. After leading the youth ministry at church, she found her life-calling in teaching, and what an inspirational teacher she is! She teaches math and science in a ‘living classroom.’ Her nominators say, “She is always growing fish and praying mantis, from egg to adult, to set them free on a field trip. She grows and harvests plants, and hatches chickens in an incubator! All this EXTRA work is for the kids to develop an attachment to the curriculum they learn.” Plus, she supports her students outside the classroom. “She makes a point of attending extracurricular events for every student she teaches. The kids in Kate’s classroom feel that they are known, loved and that someone is proud of them.”
She is also a breast cancer survivor, overcoming a two-year battle with extensive surgeries, chemo, and radiation. “Through this exhausting and painful battle, she never took off a single day of teaching, even when her white blood cell count was dangerously low. She said the kids gave her life meaning.”
Kate is a lifeline. “She is a rock that her friends and family know they can depend on her. With all her strength, tenacity, grit, and fierce love, she still embodies servant leadership, grace, femininity, gratitude, and gives the best hugs known to humankind.”
Kate’s Consuelabration was attended by her family, students, and faculty at her school. In addition to her joyous, surprise recognition, her students and faculty put together a blessing jar, sharing their words of appreciation for all the ways she blesses others.
Kate shares her mantra from scripture:
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13
