Ingrid M.
Congratulations to our newest Viva Babe, Ingrid! During a special moment in the library, while preparing food boxes for families with her husband and friends, Ingrid was surprised when her husband, Ted, presented her with the Viva Babe Award.
Spend just a few minutes with Ingrid, and you’ll quickly see her vibrant passion for being a middle school librarian. Ingrid focuses on three key values in her library: making students feel loved, respected, and safe. She understands that students face many challenges, and she is committed to creating a welcoming environment where they can thrive. Ingrid believes that reading opens doors to new places and experiences, and she has transformed her library into much more than just a space for books.
Ted, her spouse and nominator, shared: "Ingrid identified a critical need among her students: hunger. Instead of simply acknowledging the issue, she took action. Through various partnerships, she established a full food pantry in her library. Every child gets to shop at the "Wildcat DEN," Ingrid also prepares additional food boxes for families needing extra support. She manages to handle and distribute literal tons of food each month. Even when school was closed due to a heating system failure, Ingrid braved the 40-degree building to organize and coordinate food deliveries for her students."
Ingrid's life mantra, 'We face adversity every day; you have to continually believe in yourself and know that you can handle anything that comes your way,' is a testament to her resilience. She embodies this spirit daily, choosing happiness and resilience despite life's challenges. Ingrid surrounds herself with uplifting and encouraging people and cherishes her monthly outings with friends. She loves spending quality time and making memories with her family, often welcoming extra kids into her home.
Ingrid, you are a ridiculously awesome librarian, mother, wife, and friend. We are immensely proud to celebrate you and the positivity and kindness you share year-round.
