Gloria L.R.
Celebrating our newest Consuela Viva Babe, Gloria! With 30 years of phenomenal dedication to teaching, Gloria has shaped countless young minds, and we couldn’t be more excited to honor her for her incredible impact and passion for education. Her sister and nominator Martha shared, "Gloria is an amazing educator who goes above and beyond in her classroom to make sure her students have an awesome educational experience. She has been honored and recognized as Teacher of the Year. She never stops thinking of her students!"
Gloria’s teaching journey has taken her to various school districts across Texas, including her alma mater, La Joya ISD. Despite the challenges of teaching one of the toughest grades—fifth grade—she has always created a welcoming, encouraging, and inspiring environment for her students. Gloria’s commitment extended beyond the classroom as she mentored new teachers, led extracurricular activities, and made science competitions an unforgettable experience.
Gloria draws inspiration from her daily life, faith, and the positive relationships she has built over the years. Whether it’s learning something new from her sisters, enjoying time in her garden, or reflecting during her commute, Gloria’s passion for growth and self-care shines through in everything she does. She says, “If I can make an impact on just a few students, then it’s all worth it.”
Her favorite life mantra is “Just make every day count.” And that’s precisely what she’s done throughout her career—showing up every day with positivity, embracing the obstacles, and turning them into learning opportunities for herself and her students.
Gloria was overjoyed and surprised during a family lunch with the special Viva Babe Award presentation. She recalls, “It was a heartfelt moment, especially knowing that my sister Martha nominated me.”
As she retires, Gloria’s legacy of love, kindness, and dedication will continue to resonate through the lives of her students and community. Thank you, Gloria, for making the world ridiculously awesome through education!
