EMMA FAYE R
I SO DESPERATELY WANT NOT ONLY THE DEAF, BUT ANYONE WHO FEELS HELD BACK BY THEIR CIRCUMSTANCES OR STORY, TO KNOW THAT THEY CAN OVERCOME.
Emma Faye is the Founder and Executive Director of the non-profit, Aid the Silent. Her nominator, Robin, says, “Emma has been deaf since she was 3 years old. I watched her grow up with my nieces and nephews, becoming a cheerleader and Miss San Antonio twice, bringing awareness to help deaf children, standing up to make the world inclusive for children, and giving the gift of hearing to any many children as possible.” The mission of Aid the Silent is to aid economically disadvantaged deaf children and teens to reach their full potential and to live life more richly by providing funds to receive hearing and speech resources.
Emma Faye is also a renowned speaker, advocate, and leader, and here’s a sprinkling of how she lifts the world around her:
♡Traveling the country, speaking to groups about overcoming obstacles and living your life to the fullest
♡Bringing recommendations and solutions to those with disabilities through her appointment on the Governor’s Committee of People with Disabilities
♡Advocating for captioning and bringing captioning to one of San Antonio’s largest theaters⠀
♡Starring in a video series with her service dog, entitled ‘Hank and Emma Faye,’ for their local PBS station, focusing on inclusion, kindness, and loving your neighbor well⠀
♡Embarking on a #ShowYourAids social media campaign, promoting self-pride with over 10K folks from all over the globe posting their hearing aids and implants
In Emma Faye’s words from Aid the Silent website, “I so desperately want not only the deaf, but anyone who feels held back by their circumstances or story, to know that they can overcome.”
