Angaleia personifies strength and resilience, rising above her past, embracing health, fitness, and positivity.

Angaleia lives in Pomaria, South Carolina, and was nominated by her sister, Eve. Eve says, “Her story is one of great triumph and overcoming seemingly impossible odds to get her life back. She went down a very dark road starting at around age 11-12. The wrong friends led to experimentation with drugs and all the evil that comes with it. She was sent to live in the wilderness at a school for troubled teens as my parent's last resort to ‘save’ her. She lived in the woods for nearly a year during that program but didn’t come out of the dark fog until much later in her 20s. There must have been a guardian angel at her side but we never gave up on her.”

She’s been married to her husband Bobby for 10 years. Eve says, “He has been instrumental in supporting her positive comeback story. Who would have guessed she would marry a straight-laced marine and firefighter?! About 4 years ago she started a fitness journey after becoming very ill for several weeks. She had been a smoker since her teens so she stopped cold turkey and began to exercise. She worked her way up and has competed in numerous obstacle course races and even the Mrs. Muscle & Fitness last summer where she was a top contender out of thousands of women. She has inspired so many women to develop a love for fitness and to make time to take care of themselves including me.”

“I am nominating her for having the courage to forgive herself for all her past, the conscience to fight her demons daily to live a healthy and positive life, and the confidence to use her voice and fitness platform to inspire others,” Eve says. She’s about as transparent as they come and her tattoo work on her right arm tells the story of her journey to ‘rise above’ her past to fully live out the present.
